A MESSAGE FROM OUR PRINCIPAL

Welcome and thank you for your interest in the Veazie Community School! Our award winning school community prides ourselves in providing innovative, student-centered learning opportunities for all students in grades Pre-K through 8.  Our small school environment allows us to focus on relationships and meet the needs of each student.  At the same time, for a small school, we offer a robust menu of offerings including accelerated Math and ELA opportunities, Art, Physical Education, Health, STEM, and Music.

At VCS, we also provide a variety of intervention strategies for students who may need additional programming support.  Those offerings include daily RTI blocks, Special Education, Speech & Language, ESOL, Chapter 104, Social-Emotional Learning support, and Title 1 support.

Beyond the classroom, the Veazie Community School offers students a wide range of extra and co-curricular learning opportunities including FLEX Friday, Robotics, an Outdoor Club, Student Council, Civil Rights Team and many seasonal sports teams including Cross-Country Running, Boys & Girls Soccer, Boys & Girls Basketball, Baseball, Softball and Track & Field. We are a 1-1 technology school with iPads for primary grades, and chromebooks for Intermediate and Middle School Students.  We regularly utilize a variety of STEM resources including 3-D printers, hydroponic growing labs and a school garden that is part of our farm to table program.

The school day begins promptly at 8:00 a.m. and dismisses at 2:30 p.m.  We strongly believe that attendance matters and our staff is ready and willing to help address any concerns that may inhibit a student from regularly attending school.  At VCS, safety is always a high priority and we thank you for your ongoing vigilance and support of our safety procedures.

One of the more attractive reasons why you should choose to live in Veazie is our school-choice option for students who have completed Grade 8.  Our high school students have the option to select from a number of area high schools.  This is an incredibly rare opportunity for parents/guardians to make choices that work best for their child.  If this applies to you, please contact our School Counselor to see how we can assist you in making the right choice for you and your family.

If you are new to our beautiful little town, we encourage you to reach out so that we may assist you with registering your child for school.  Our motto is “Small School, Big Heart” and we strive to live up to those expectations everyday.  We are always accepting new students, so please inquire within the front office for registration materials and procedures by calling our Office Manager, Tiffani Lindsay at 947-6573.  You may also contact me at ttweedie@veaziecs.org.  I am always pleased to meet new families and prospective students, so please contact us in order to set up a guided school tour.

Best regards and once again, thank you for your interest in VCS, ranked the # 1 Preschool, # 1 Public Elementary School, and # 1 Public Middle School in the State of Maine!
