SAVE THE DATE!

The Scholastic Book Fair was incredibly successful! Thanks to the flexibility of teachers, the support of families, the PTO and student volunteers, and most importantly, our young readers, we were able to raise almost $1500! Enjoy your new books!

Our scheduled blood donations for tomorrow's Red Cross drive are very low. Please consider donating! Register at www.redcrossblood.org.

Mr. Arell's parent/teacher conference times are as follows: 3-6pm on Thursday, and 3-5:30 on Friday. If he is not in the music room, you can find him in Mrs. Hileman's room.

Hello, my name is Sarah Moon and I am the new Art Educator here at VCS, I will be available to meet with parents for conferences on Thursday, November 7th from 3-4:30. If this time is not convenient or if anyone has any questions they can email me at smoon@veaziecs.org Thanks and hope to see some of you soon!

Busy week at VCS:
Book Fair all week; Parent/Teacher Conferences Thurs/Friday evening; Red Cross Blood Drive Friday 1-6; PTO Craft Fair Saturday 9-3.

The forecast for Friday is calling for snow....not a considerable amount, but enough for a reminder to make sure your child has appropriate winter weather clothing, including boots, winter coat, hat, mittens, and snow pants (if they plan on playing in the snow). Thank you!

The VCS Robotics Team is preparing for regionals held on November 23 in Jay, Maine. Engineers are currently working hard at building & programming individual robots with hopes that their design and programs are selected! Go Vikings!

Veazie Community School Parent-Teacher Conferences are being held Thursday, November 7 and Friday, November 8 from 3 - 6:30p.m. Be on the lookout for sign-up forms. Contact your child's teacher if you have questions. Thank you for your support!

As part of the VCS Civil Rights Team 'Welcome Day' project, every staff and student wore their VCS shirt for this incredible photo. Wow!
"Small School, BIG Heart!"

The VCS Civil Rights Team in partnership with The Civil Rights Team Project kicked off our Welcome day celebrations by hanging a welcome sign, welcoming everyone no matter their race and skin color, national origin and ancestry, religion, disabilities, gender (including gender identity and expression), and sexual orientation at the following Veazie businesses: American Concrete, Flaggs, Tradewinds, Raegamuffins, and the Stucco Lodge.
This morning the VCS Civil Rights Team welcomed every student as they came to school with a welcome banner!
Stay tuned for a special photo of our VCS family!!

Congratulations to BOTH Veazie Community School soccer teams on winning the league championship tonight!!! We are Veazie! We are Vikings! We are Proud!

Today marks “Z” day for our Kindergarteners. For 26 days they celebrated a different letter of the alphabet. Students brought in a wide range of artifacts that started with particular letters. They also enjoyed dressing the part! Staff also got involved on spirit days. Thank you Mrs. Chandler for engaging some of our young learners!

Our Book Fair is just around the corner!

Grades 3/4 are enjoying inside recess by playing 'Shut The Box'! If you haven't played it before, I highly recommend it!

Today we dedicated one of our school garden raised beds to former Veazie resident, Dean Francis Webster, who passed away this past spring. VCS first grader, Tucker Clapp referred to his grandfather as "Fie." Mr. Webster had a passion for gardening and it was the wish of he and his family for donations to be made in his name to the Veazie Community School Garden. We graciously received dozens of donations totaling more than $1400 which helped to build three additional raised beds as well a wonderful outdoor classroom. Thank you, "Fie," and thank you to your family for this generous donation.

VCS 7th grader, Sarah Hartford's passion for baking has grown into her her own business--Spoonful of Sugar! Today, Sarah treated VCS staff to apple crumble and pumpkin cupcakes with cream cheese toppings. We are proud of you, Sarah! And the cupcakes were quite delicious!

SNOW DAY!
Not really, but now is a good time to talk about the weather. Please make sure that our office has updated cel phone numbers in the event that we must text a school cancellation, delay or early release. After much feedback, we will be only using text message for these types of communications. We will also continue to use area TV and radio websites and stations to post information. Please take a moment to read this important document regarding winter weather:

We love our PTO helpers. They come in weekly to help laminate, cut, sort......whatever they can do to help our teachers keep their focus on teaching and learning. Thank you, PTO!
