Grade 8 enjoyed a pizza party today!! Hard to believe we will be saying goodbye to these students in just a few weeks! Big thank you to Brewer’s Twin City Pizza!!

Thank you all for your support of the Scholastic Book Fair. We were able to provide 37 new books to classroom libraries and students took home over $1400 in free books!

THANK YOU HANNAFORD HELPS SCHOOLS!!! For the second consecutive year, VCS has won the Hogan Road Hannaford program award for having the highest participation at that store! Hannaford awarded our PTO with a check for $1,000!!

Friday is the last day of the Scholastic Book Fair! Students have already earned over $900 in FREE books by taking advantage of the Buy One, Get One Free sale! “The Three Little Super Pigs”, “Dog Man” graphic novels, and LEGO have been our top sellers, but we still have plenty of copies left! The library will be open until 4:30pm.

A library within a library! Check out Ms. Glunt’s little library.

The Buy One Get One Free Scholastic Book Fair will be at the VCS Library Monday, April 29-Friday, May 3. Students will have the opportunity to browse and shop during their Library Media class (listed below), and we’ll also be open until 4:30 each day. An Important Message to VCS Parents:
I want to take a moment to recognize the Veazie Community School Staff and Students for their response to today's lockdown situation. Today was a perfect school crisis scenario with a perfect outcome. As a school we were faced with every challenging variable one could imagine--there was still 5 minutes remaining of our scheduled arrival time, there were a handful of late arriving students and we were responding with a limited amount of information from public safety (too little to attempt to reach out to parents in fear of causing more harm than good). Throughout all of this situation, everyone was safe.
We practice school crisis drills for a reason. The entire VCS family stepped up today and demonstrated great respect, maturity, and support for one another. I am extremely proud of our staff and students for their behaviors during this difficult and stressful situation.
Part of our crisis plan involves debriefing. We met as a staff after school today to discuss what went well, as well as ways we can improve. This process also includes further conversation with local public safety officials. I encourage you to discuss the importance of school safety with your children as you deem appropriate. Please do not hesitate to contact myself, your child's teacher, or our school counselor should you or your child need further support.
Thank you.
